According to reports, 67% of marketers consider trade shows to be the most effective way to market. 69% of respondents said they marketed through in-person events which of course includes trade shows.
It also appears 87% use social media, 78% market via articles on the company's web site and e-newsletters (have you signed up for the TF2 Bulletin?) while case studies, videos and articles on other web sites are all used by 70%; blogging being slightly more popular at 77%.
Another revealing report - here - shows 'content marketing' being used by 90% of marketers.
Of course, these reports are all 'lag' indications and trends change rapidly these days; keep a close eye on your trade press to stay up-to-date for your industry.
